Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best well-known for her character of Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she won the Emmy Award. Her other credits include her performances in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was the sole child of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a domestic worker. Her upbringing was within a household with four other brothers. The idea of becoming a court reporter during her early years, but began modeling in high school eventually garnering commercials when she moved from New York. In her teens, her first role as an actress was in the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. Since then Delaney has appeared in numerous TV dramas and films. Her professional career has been more successful than her private life. The talented actress was afflicted with addiction issues in the past and had two failed marriages. The year 2005 was the time she was denied custody of the only child she was born with.
