Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent by 1988. Then, in 1992 she was made chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for journalism excellence, including her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began covering the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell covered a range of notable stories, including arms control the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell went on numerous trips together with President Reagan to meetings together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
