Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) more popularly known as her professional name Ari Lennox is an American artist and singer hailing from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. In October 2016, Ari Lennox released her EP Pho. The EP was where she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012 with her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued uploading her music online including her self-released single Bound. Sweat It is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time, wanted to have her create Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. The news was released on December 8 that she had signed with Dreamville Records. In the record Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat with Cozz. In October 21, 2016, the artist released her debut album titled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus along with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video then released in September. In November, she dropped her singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13 she then dropped two singles titled No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed with Cole on the Creed II sound track on November 16. The song was followed by a music video that was released on February 20, 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views via YouTube in the first week. As a supporting act she performed together with 6LACK in December of 2018 for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
